An Important Initiative to Extend the Tourist Season.

SKY express has launched a significant initiative to extend the tourist season and reduce seasonality, starting with Crete. Specifically, the airline will maintain two weekly direct flights from Paris to Heraklion until the end of November.
This initiative is part of SKY express's broader strategy and its commitment to supporting the national effort to enhance the tourist season, extending into the winter months across more destinations in the country.
Starting strategically—and symbolically—from Heraklion, the airline creates the conditions for the French public to one of Greece's most popular destinations.
Gerasimos Skaltsas, Chief Commercial Officer of SKY express, stated, "With this initiative, SKY express contributes to achieving a central national goal in tourism: the expansion of the tourist season. We are optimistic that our pilot action will yield significant benefits and can be expanded further in Crete and other regions of our country."
Dimitris Frangakis, Secretary General of the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO), said, "Extending the tourist season is a key priority for the Greek National Tourism Organization. Our partnerships both in Greece and internationally aim at this, which is why we support SKY express's initiative for this coming November. The action of this Greek airline could significantly increase traffic from the French market to Greece, particularly to Crete, and help strengthen the income of the local community by extending the season by one month. Already the cooperation of GNTO with SKY express has borne fruit in the past and I am optimistic that this initiative will be equally productive. Through such actions and in cooperation with local communities, we can collectively create conditions for year-round tourism, which is our ultimate goal."
It is noteworthy that recently, SKY express and the GNTO, marking the completion of their successful collaboration in promoting Greece abroad in 2023, showcased the impressive results of their annual co-promotion program, which reached over 20 million tourists-consumers across Europe with advertisements showcasing the Greek tourist product.
