The history

The first references to Düsseldorf date back to the 7th century, when the Franks settled in the area. Rheinischer Sauerbraten

A traditional Rhine region dish consisting of pieces of meat, usually beef, which are marinated for a few days in an aromatic blend of vinegar, coriander, onions and spices. Served with red wine sauce, potatoes or croutons and a variety of vegetables. Its history dates back centuries and is linked to the need of that time for food preservation. German farmers and hunters marinated their meats with this technique to keep them fresh. The marinade also helped soften hard meat and add rich aromas.

Mettbrötchen
